"In The Shelter Of His Arms"

I'm always listing to some kind of music when I'm on my PC. Especially when working on the newsletters I listen southern gospel music. I heard this song a couple months ago and it really touched me. With every thing going on now in this country and around the world I thought it a good song to look at. I looked it up and read the lyrics and especially after reading the last verse In The Shelter of His Arms is where we should be. We have let it drift so far away from Godly principles, I honestly believe that our country will not be healed until we we get those Godly principles back. But I am optimistic and sense God working, especially with the younger generation. Also I've noticed so many people being a little more comfortable talking about ther faith in God. The following article gives a little history of the song and writers. Bob W. Certainly! Ike Davis and Ray Emerson Heady were notable songwriters. Ike Davis, who lived from 1936 to 1996, was one of the best and most prolific Texas songwriters in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. His heartfelt singing and popular songs continue to bless and touch the hearts of God’s people worldwide. One of his well-known compositions is “In the Shelter of His Arms,” co-written with Ray Heady. This song was published in 1968 by Sword & Shield Music and became a national hit when recorded by Jimmie Davis. Ray E. Heady, (born in 1916 and passing away in 2002), devoted his adult life to ministry as a pastor in North Texas. He was the founding pastor of several churches in the North Texas area. Their combined contributions to gospel music are treasured and celebrated. Other good recordings are by The oak Ridge Boys and Jimmy Swagart.

When my soul was disturbed with sorrow
When My heart was burdened with sin
Jesus opened His arms of mercy
And tenderly took me in
Chorus There is peace in the time of trouble
There is peace in the midst of the storm
There is peace though the world be raging
In the shelter of His arms

There are storms that we all encounter
Do not fear they will do you no harm
In the Lord you will find protection
In the shelter of His arms
Chorus Tho' the world all around be raging
And it's filled with many alarms.
Trust in Jesus and He will keep you.
In the shelter of His arms Chorus
