It’s hard to believe that it’s already October 2022.

It’s hard to believe that it’s already October 2022. However, here we are; and it’s many folk’s favorite month, especially weather-wise. It’s also a month of festivals/-sports events/etc.-hyperactivity, with nature’s colorful foliage display added in.
This year, with a climate of political divisiveness in our beloved country, October is also a pre-election month. The economy is either booming or in great peril, depending on your perspective. A cruel war is being waged in Ukraine. Inflation is hurting everybody’s pocketbook. Senseless violence is threatens schoolchildren and pedestrians alike. And all this is brought into your living room by TV, online or the daily newspaper. It gets into your head and triggers uneasy thoughts. For too many of us, it becomes easy to lose track of worship, benevolence, and even God himself, in the busyness and rhetoric swirling around us each day. We hope everyone sets some time aside to read the Word and to be in prayer.
One of the prominent issues of this election has been the for- or against-legal abortion. It appears to be the reason many will vote for one candidate or the other.
So, is it a woman’s right to do with her own body as she wishes, or is it murder? Is a fetus just a collection of proteins or a human being? Christians need to take this issue very seriously. We are living in a culture in which young children – the next generation - are being taught that evolution is a fact, Creation is just a theory at best, a fairy tale at worst. Christians need to be heard.
We claim that we, as Christians, wish to obey God. Which means that we want to know what God teaches about life. Probably there are few places in the stories of Jesus’ ministry that explain more clearly just how God feels about little children than when He observed His disciples restraining parents bringing their children up to Jesus so that He might just touch them: “Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.” [Mark 10:14]. Can you envision the awesome responsibility for a mother-to-be of carrying a little piece of the kingdom of God within her womb? Far too precious to intentionally destroy.      Virginia                                                                                   And they bought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, ‘Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them. Mark 10:13-16
