Thoughts from the Director, Front Step

 This has been our best and most effective summer program yet with the children, youth and families of the Front Step community. We are so grateful for all who have made it possible, those on site and those at a distance, those who have been present 8 weeks and those who have been present for one day. There have been many highlights this summer, here are a few that I shall not soon forget:
>> children eager to attend, some showing up 2-3 hour early! >> children inviting their friends, making new friends
>> inner-city kids happy and experiencing freedom in a safe place
>> a whole summer together without a single outbreak of Covid!
>> visiting teams who accomplished great advance in our mission house
>> a family whose parrot flew away, it came back in 6 days after prayer
>> aiding a family which was scammed out of their home
>> lunches provided for free for all children by "Caring for Friends"
>> seven children to Philadelphia District pre-teen camp in Lancaster, PA
>> young daughter who asked mom to start a Bible study together
>> 16 children who responded to altar invitation from Pastor Owen
The "success" of this Front Step Summer Camp was reflected by the words of one seven-year-old girl on the last day: "I don't want to leave! This is my only happy place." Fortunately, she can join us again in a couple of weeks when we begin again with our Fall ministry, after-school, Bible quizzing and culinary classes. We thank God for the opportunity to make a significant difference in the young lives of our urban community!          Wes Tink
