Greetings from Front Step of Philly!

It was a great joy for Sarah and me to be with you at Holland Bible Church in October. Thank you for your warm welcome and all your kindness! The love and support we receive from your dear Pastor and congregation manifests God's grace in action. You are making a great difference in the lives and futures of people in many ways, including those we serve in the inner city.
God brings freedom! Our visit was a chance to share specifically about one family that Front Step has been able to help free from the oppression and abuse of the City. This was a big investment on the part of Front Step, but we felt that this family deeply needed a fresh start in a new context that would give opportunity for the six children to have safety, good education, a terrific church and a setting that could provide many new possibilities. Two months later, all is going well for this family and they have adjusted well to this fresh start---Praise God!
There are so many different ways to share God's love and the person and message of Jesus Christ. At Front Step of Philly, our daily goal is to do so in meaningful ways that fit each context. Right now, we are expanding our tutoring program for at-risk children who are suffering academically in very mediocre schools. We have seen over the past 10 months that as we provide supplementary education these kids can make real headway in learning that gets them to their appropriate grade level. In the Front Step perspective, failure is not an option even though they may be in failing schools. God can open those doors of possibility through people who care. He is doing so!
